Washing Machine Kills IPTV

Modern home appliances are not compatible with current networks solutions

Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) is not a common problem in the office, there do not tend to be many washing machines and tumble dryers with their large motors spinning up and down, hair dryers and even the spark ignition on a boiler can cause havoc with domestic networks (CAT5, Wireless or Main transmission).

Home computers and laptops are not normally a problem as if they do not receive a bit of data they will ask for it again, but streaming services are now starting to appear in the home. The BBC’s iPlayer has shown how popular on-demand television will become.

IPTV is the future of home entertainment, but will the humble home network be the weak link in the chain. A less that 1% loss of data can cause major problems to the consumer

Not every home will be affected and the problems can be intermittent, in an apartment blocks, you don’t always know who has what appliances running and when!

What is needed is and interference free network with quality of service provided for streaming data.

After many years of development the fibrepointTM network provides that solution, data is transmitted over the network using interference free eye safe laser light with quality of services design in as well as network segmentation so multiple services can be streaming across the network by different providers each seeing the network as their own, this can be provided right down to an individual socket on the wall plate.

To find out more about how to install a fibrepoint network in your how, call your local Senko office (www.senko.com).
