At the heart of a fibrepoint™ network is the DC48 compatible optical switch, a device that connects to your Communication Providers services and distributes the data throughout the network.

The fibrepoint PDX

The fibrepoint™ entry level, Optical Switch has two 100 Mb RJ45 input and 6 optical network ports. Each optical port has a corresponding low voltage supply that feeds power to the active fibrepoint wallports via the Hybrid cable.

The Optical Switch has a number of special features that are designed to operate with Next Generation, Fibre-to-the-Home services. These include connection for multiple service providers and distributing telephone services to a number of outlets with an emergency telephone line connection that links into the battery back-up facilities to maintain telephony services in the event of electrical mains power failure.

The Optical Switch can be used as a patch panel to direct services to any fibrepoint™ wall plate.
